I was a member of an interdisciplinary team of 27 engineering students which competed with 126 teams across the nation to build the most innovative robots. We were the finalists of the ABU National Robocon 2017. I was involved in the Finance and Management of the team; I handled the team budget, sponsorship deals, day-to-day expenses and logistics. I was involved in management and co-ordination of the three sub-divisions of the team Mechanical, Electronics and Programming.

What is Robocon?

  • Doordarshan organizes the national Robocon event every year.

  • In the competition, robots compete to complete a task within a set period of time.

  • The rule-book is released by the host country a year prior to the actual 3-day event.

  • The best engineering institutes across the country work round the year to compete with each other for the honor of representing India at the international competition.

  • The contest aims to help advance engineering technologies in the country.

Our 2017 Robot in action!

My Contribution

  • Drafting and approval of budgets of the intra-team departments – Mechanical, Electronics and Logistics

  • Procuring a sponsorship deal from Kakade Laser for the mechanical manufacturing of the robot; namely laser-cutting, wire-cutting, CNC engraving, water-jet cutting etc. The cost of which estimated to ~100,000 INR.

  • Procuring a complete sponsorship deal by Ni2 Designs for all 3D parts on the robot; the cost of which estimated to ~75,000 INR.

  • Handling logistics such as transport, accommodation, food throughout the period of the competition.
